Southern Institute of Technology O Week celebrations began today with a powhiri and market day.

The welcoming ceremony was moved indoors to avoid the rain before new and returning students poured outside to check out the stalls.

Students braved the rain to line up for a free sausage sizzle, or crowded under the marquee tents from many different organisations.

O Week continues tomorrow with players from the Southland Stags rugby team at the main campus from noon, with plenty of competitions and activities planned with the players.
