An 18-year-old man has been arrested in relation to an assault that left another man with serious head injuries in Gore last Sunday.
The man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and appear in the Invercargill District Court today.
The assault happened in Hamilton St in Gore on the Sunday night.
Detective Sergeant Greg Baird, of Gore CIB, said inquiries into the matter are continuing and police wanted to thank the public for their assistance.
However, police are still appealing for further witnesses because it seems there may have been further incidents in the area earlier on in the day between members of the two opposing groups.
The victim remains in Dunedin hospital.
