The body of an elderly woman missing since Tuesday night has been found in a semi-rural area in Mosgiel.
Searchers found 67-year-old Gae Pantel about 8 o'clock last night in a rural area close to Gladstone Rd, about halfway between Riccarton and Gladfield Roads.
Police, search and rescue volunteers, as well as friends and family of Mrs Pantel had been searching for her over the past two days.
An intense search had been under way focused in the greater Taieri and Mosgiel area.
Sergeant Kevin Davidson, of Mosgiel police, said Mrs Pantel was found by two cyclists who were out searching for her in an area that was approximately two kilometres from the residence where she had last been seen on Tuesday.
The circumstances around Mrs Pantel's death were not suspicious and the matter has now been referred to the coroner, Mr Davidson said.
Police extended their thanks to all those who participated in the intensive search for Mrs Pantel over the past few days, particularly the volunteer search and rescue teams.
"Searchers have put in 100 per cent effort into finding Mrs Pantel and I would sincerely like to thank them for their commitment over the past few days," Mr Davidson said.
