Backup crews tackle Gore blaze
A Gore house was badly damaged in a blaze on Tuesday night.
Fire crews responded to the fire in Raceway Lane about 11pm.
A fire communications spokesman said the initial report was that a house and garage were on fire, with someone possibly inside.
However, fire crews established everyone was out of the house, which was fully ablaze when they arrived. Extra fire crews were called from Mataura and Pukerau.
Firefighters were at the scene for nearly six hours.
There were no reports of injuries and the fire was not being treated as suspicious.
Specialist fire investigator Paul Glanville said the cause of the blaze would be investigated this morning.
