Invercargill woman Sarah Dowie is set to fill the rather large shoes of MP Eric Roy.
Ms Dowie, a commercial and environmental solicitor, has been confirmed as the National Party's Invercargill candidate. She said she believed that the region had some challenges and opportunities. "I believe we have some real opportunities ahead as a region. Our challenge is to ensure strong leadership and responsible policies which create more jobs and growth."
The Labour Party is yet to announce whether Lesley Soper or Michael Gibson will represent the electorate.
David Kennedy was confirmed this week as the Green Party candidate.
