Cars crash in city
Invercargill emergency services have been kept busy this morning, attending a house fire and vehicle collision.
A police communications spokesman said emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Yarrow and Isabella streets before 9.30am.
One of the occupants received minor injuries and there were reports of smoke coming from one of the vehicles, he said.
The road was not officially closed but the crashed vehicles were causing some blockage, delaying traffic, he said.
Earlier, Invercargill and Kingswell firefighters were called to a house fire in Yarrow St.
A fire service communications spokesman said trucks arrived at the property about 3.45am and found a small fire on the outside wall of the house.
There was no one inside the property and firefighters contained the damage to one room, he said.
A fire investigator had visited the scene this morning, he said.
