Police taser Dunedin man
A man has been pepper sprayed and tasered by police after a car chase in Dunedin.
Senior Sergeant Kelvin Lloyd said police were called after an incident in the suburb of Roslyn last night.
The man had allegedly been discovered trying to steal a car by the car's owner, he said.
The man punched the car owner in the face before stealing a different car and fleeing the scene, Mr Lloyd said.
The car owner, who had been punched, alerted police and provided information to help them follow the man.
Police pursued the man but he refused to stop.
When he was eventually stopped on the motorway, he refused to cooperate and was sprayed and tasered, Mr Lloyd said.
The man was taken into police custody, he said.
