A 57-year-old Canadian tourist who collapsed and died in his Queenstown hotel unit was considered fit and healthy, police said yesterday.
Senior Constable Chris Blackford, of Queenstown, said police were called at 4pm on Wednesday to a Gorge Rd hotel after the man collapsed and was unable to be resuscitated.
Fire Service volunteers with a defibrillator and St John attended. The death was referred to the coroner.
Family told police the man was considered healthy and regularly went to the gym and for runs.
On Wednesday he and other family members walked up Queenstown hill and returned to the unit about 1.30pm. The man went upstairs for a shower after lunch and collapsed a short time later.
