Riverton fundraisers for active southerners
Energetic southerners will have the chance to get active on Sunday at the annual Aparima Rotary fundraising triathlon and duathlon.
Rotary Club publicity officer Diane Wilson said the Riverton event, on Sunday, would have something for all energy levels.
The triathlon would include a 500m swim, 30km bike ride and 9km run, while the duathlon would feature the bike ride and run.
A duathlon for school-age children would also be held, incorporating a 3km bike ride and 2km run, while a 5km Rocks Walk would also be offered.
A short-course duathlon would also be held.
Registrations would be taken at the Riverton Rugby Club at 9.30am on the day, but registration forms could be picked up beforehand from Locations Riverton or Sport Southland.
The triathlon and duathlon would cost $20 to enter, the duathlon for school-age children would be free, and the Rocks Walk would be $5.
Funds raised by the event would go to community projects, Mrs Wilson said.
Last year's event attracted more than 100 entries and it was hoped this year would be similar, if not better, she said.
