Alert about child locked in car boot
Reports of a child locked in a boot put southern police on alert this morning.
Police were called by concerned family and neighbours when it was believed an 8-year-old child had been accidentally locked in the boot of his mother's car as the family left Invercargill for Greymouth.
A police communications spokesman said police were deployed to keep a look out for the car and the family on its way to a wedding.
When police eventually pulled the mother over the child was found safe and sound strapped in the backseat, he said.
