A man who died after falling down a lift shaft at Speight's Brewery in Dunedin has been named this morning.
Ralph Ashenhurst, 48, of Port Chalmers, died in Dunedin Hospital about 11am yesterday from his injuries, Southern District Command Centre deployment co-ordinator Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said.
The death would be referred to the coroner.
Ashenhurst, a subcontractor for lift company Kone, fell down the decommissioned lift on Monday and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Kone and Worksafe NZ said at the time they would begin an investigation into the incident which could take several weeks.
