Molotov cocktail hits city shop
Invercargill police today confirmed a molotov cocktail was the likely cause of the fire at a legal high shop in south city this morning.
Constable Graeme King said after viewing security footage there were two offenders. One who smashed the shop window and another who threw a molotov type cocktail.
Invercargill fire crews were called to a fire at the legal high shop in south city in the early hours of this morning.
Crews from Kingswell and Invercargill brigades responded to a building fire at the corner of Elles Rd and Martin St before 1am.
Kingswell station officer Greg Koppert on arrival there was a fast developing fire in one of the shops.
Firefighters had to force their way into Impuls'd quickly contain the fire and search the upper regions of the shop for occupants, he said.
No one was found inside the building.
Fire crews remained on scene for a further two hours to dampen down hot spots and ventilate the shop and surrounding buildings.
Fire Safety officers and police will be investigating the cause of the fire today, he said.
