WorkSafe New Zealand has confirmed it is investigating an incident that has left a man missing a hand in Gore.
WorkSafe spokesman Mark Scott said the agency received a report today a man had his hand cut off by a log-splitter.
A police communications spokesman said police had helped take a man who ''had lost his hand'' to Gore Hospital about 11.30am.
Ambulance southern communications team leader Paul Burns said the man who had his hand severed in an industrial accident was later flown from Gore to Christchurch.
