Pupils get top awards

Southland Trinity College London pupils Dryw McArthur, 15, Ella Rose Jones, 11, and Rosie Dykes, 9, have been given speech and drama awards. 

Southland Trinity College London had four pupils get top marks for the grade for New Zealand -  Ella Richardson for grade 2 speech and drama, Ella Rose Jones for grade 3 performing text, Rosie Dykes for grade 1 speech and Tapani Maka for grade 3 euphonium.

Dryw McArthur was also awarded the silver medal for grade 6 speech and drama.

Teacher Gussie Johnson was recognised for her contributions to not only Trinity College but for her achievements in drama.

''It's a wonderful thing to see young people get up on stage and see the stage come alive,'' she said.
