Crash delays race carnival
The first day of the Riverton Racing Easter Carnival was delayed after the ambulance needed for the track came across a crash on its way to event.
A car with four occupants flipped and rolled on Riverton-Wallacetown Highway near Oporo Flat Rd on Saturday morning.
An ambulance communications spokeswoman said the crew heading to the races came across the crash and stopped to provide assistance.
Two more ambulances were called to the crash.
One person had moderate injuries and two had minor injuries, she said.
Senior Sergeant Maggie Windle, of Invercargill, said police were investigating the cause of the crash, which happened about 11.30am.
Southern fire communications spokesman Mau Barbara said the Wallacetown fire brigade was also called to the crash.
