A Fijian man who was allegedly in disguise and carrying a false passport on arrest at Queenstown Airport was remanded in custody yesterday.
Ro Verelevu Matiatini, 53, whose address was given as New Lynn in Auckland, appeared in the Queenstown District Court.
He is charged that on April 13 he used an Australian passport he knew was obtained by false representation; and with injuring with intent in Massey on August 10 last year.
He was remanded without plea to appear in the Invercargill District Court on May 21.
Police said Matiatini was arrested as he tried to leave for Australia and was wearing a hat, scarf and sunglasses but a border alert was triggered.
