A mudslide in Dunedin's campus this morning resulted in its student occupants being evacuated.

Sergeant Craig Brown, of Dunedin police, said the slip, part of a bank, came down between two properties in Queen St about 4.30am.

Students from one of the flats were evacuated as a precaution.

Dunedin City Council contractors were called to assess the scene.

A council spokesman said the slip appeared to be relatively minor and could be fixed with some engineering work.
