A Gore man who was granted bail, despite police opposition, in the Gore District Court last week was back behind bars the day after his court appearance.
Andrew Raymond Peek was taken into custody after allegedly breaching the conditions of his bail.
Sergeant Ian Temple said the conditions included not to consume alcohol. But the 23-year-old turned up to report at the Gore police station, as per his bail conditions, on Friday smelling of alcohol. A breathalyser test confirmed Peek had been drinking, Mr Temple said.
Peek had been remanded without plea on a raft of charges, including two firearms charges, arising from an incident in Mataura on February 27.
