A 37-year-old orchard worker remained in custody after appearing at Invercargill District Court yesterday on firearms charges.

Scott Britton Ramage appeared before Justices of the Peace Malcolm Johnson and Hazel Sycamore charged with unlawfully possessing a .44-calibre rifle, a .22-calibre hand gun and explosive, namely gelignite.

Police opposed bail and Ramage was remanded in custody.
