Otautau man John Darrell McGregor has been found not guilty of possessing cannabis for sale.

The Crown had alleged he and another man, Stuart Richard Birse, had cannabis for sale between April 19 and May 6, 2011.

Birse admitted the charge last year and was sentenced to nine months' home detention and 150 hours' community work.

McGregor pleaded not guilty and his judge-alone trial, before Judge Brian Callaghan, started in the Invercargill District Court on Wednesday.
