The 30-year-old man accused of murdering Nicola Jean Fleming at an Invercargill hostel was further remanded in custody when he appeared in the city's high court for a pre-trial hearing this morning.
Justice Graham Pankhurst remanded murder-accused David Jackson Mahia to a tentative pre-trial callover date of October 22.
Mahia faces a charge of murder and another of sexually violating Ms Fleming, 38, by unlawful sexual connection on February 9. Ms Fleming was found dead in her room at the Haven accommodation hostel in Tyne St on February 9 and Mahia contacted police later that day.
Police believe the pair knew each other.
