A jury yesterday acquitted a man accused of hitting two people with a hammer.
John Daniel Hepburn, 28, had denied charges of injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in Lumsden on August 10 last year.
His jury trial started in the Invercargill District Court on Monday.
The Crown alleged Hepburn hit a man on the back of the head with a hammer before kicking and hitting him while he was on the ground.
It also alleged he hit another man around the face with the hammer. However, lawyer Sonia Vidal argued the hammer was used by another person.
