What are the Sunshine Coast's best family-friendly activities? If you have a travel question, email us at travel@stuff.co.nz.

Q. Any tips for a family holiday to the Sunshine Coast? We have two kids - ages 6 and 9 so would like some ideas of activities to interest both, as well as some things for the adults to do!

A. Of course one of the key draw cards for the Sunshine Coast is the pristine white sand beaches and whether you're looking for a calm sheltered spot or some waves, they've got it covered.  There are also great picnic areas (along with public BBQ's) beachside and many beaches have restaurants at the Surf Clubs so great for an affordable family friendly meal.

Australia Zoo is a great day out for the kids and the adults alike, some of the highlights are daily shows, an African Savannah, koala patting and a wildlife hospital you can visit - I'd definitely recommend a full day out here.  Still on the animal theme there is Underwater World in Mooloolaba, with great kids interactive areas.

Then there is the Ginger Factory with the story of how ginger grown, harvested and used; a historic train; Super Bee where beekeepers teach you all about hives and honey and also they have a meandering water adventure ride for all the family.

Some other family friendly outings include: the Eumundi Markets, boat rides on the Noosa River, Caloundra's Kings Beach with rockpools, water fountains and ocean front pool, koala spotting in Noosa National Park, strawberry picking (Jun-Nov) at Strawberry Fields or barramundi fishing at Suncoast Barra Fishing Park.
