Norsewood gunman David Bourke has pleaded guilty to eight charges relating to his attempted escape from police, but has been committed to stand trial for murder and attempted murder.

During a twenty minute appearance in the Palmerston North District Court this afternoon, the 47-year-old Wanganui freezing worker pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault, two of using a firearm against police and one each of assault with a cutting or stabbing weapon, dangerous driving and refusing to accompany police officers.

He entered no plea on the remaining two charges and will reappear for a High Court callover on February 10.
