He's 90 centimetres tall, made from pure chocolate and weighs a whopping 10 kilograms – Santa Claus is coming to dinner.

There'll be no shortage of chocolate for the 30 people expected for Christmas dinner at Ronald McDonald House in Newtown tomorrow night.

Among them will be chocolate lover Imogen Chapman, 3, who spent an hour yesterday afternoon eyeing up the chocolate Father Christmas.

The $1000 creation of George Havlik from Bohemein Fresh Chocolate in Hataitai was donated to the Christmas Day dinner by Cathy Davys, who won the chocolate treat in a Christmas raffle organised by Mr Havlik.

Imogen and her parents, Sarah and Chris Chapman, both 33, have stayed at Ronald McDonald House for the past three weeks, along with two other daughters, Sorcha, 5 and Xanthe, 14 months.

The family have been living at the home while visiting baby Eloise who was born 5 1/2 weeks premature and had surgery following the birth.

Eloise has been in Wellington Hospital's intensive care neonatal unit for the past three weeks.

"We'll be here for a while yet before we can take Eloise home with us," Mr Chapman, a Levin police officer, said.

And yes, "the girls are like their mother – they do like chocolate", Mr Chapman said.
