OPINION: On Sunday, three friends and I enjoyed the steam train trip to Invercargill.
We were looking forward to a nice cafe lunch and some retail therapy during our stop in Invercargill, along with the several hundred others on the train.
But did no-one tell Invercargill businesses of the train's coming?
Most cafes were closed and the one we found open was overwhelmed by the numbers and turned people away in the end.
We who managed to get in regretted it, as orders were taken wrongly, we were served the wrong things, things were missed off our orders and it took forever, no apologies or refunds offered.
When we left, much later than anticipated, we thought that a quick look around the shops would be nice.
However, it had to be window shopping, as all were closed.
What an opportunity Invercargill missed.
