OPINION: Hello, good people, who are privileged to live in this lovely province of Southland.

As one of many people who have been ill and enjoyed the attention of the services of Kew Hospital, may I say, together with my wife, that the services provided are staffed by brilliant doctors and angels of nurses who always are cheerful, even under pressure.

I'm grateful to folk such as St John ambulance staff, who had to deal with a rough old codger.

Many thanks also for the assistance of city councillors Graham Lewis and Lindsay Abbott, who helped my wife and I in every way. They are both dedicated and very efficient in council affairs.

I'm an Englishman who has been lucky to have been married to a Southlander for 57 years. May I salute you all.
