OPINION: Alan Swallow's letter (February 4) hits the nail on the head. Being the gentleman that he is, Alan put it mildly to say the least, but succinctly and to the point.
This was a chance to bring in badly needed new blood with new ideas and creativity.
But, alas, the powers of persuasion by Mayor Tim brought those wavering councillors into line and thus his minder was back for another five years.
What Alan didn't say was about the mutterings on the streets, clubs, workplaces and homes about old boy networks, cronyism and you scratch my back etc.
Shame on you, councillors, but then what's changed? Robust and fair a la Southern District Health Board and Disability Resource Centre? Yeah right!
