OPINION: Southern District Health Board chair Joe Butterfield says the board needs to explain the reasons for its decision to eliminate the Disability Resource Centre Southland and Presbyterian Support Otago from the provision of home and community support.
They certainly do.
The 2500 clients, hundreds of support workers, and more than 13,000 signatories to the petition presented to the SDHB on February 8 await that reasoning with great interest.
Given that the chair has said the need to explain is "essential", after their public-excluded vote rejecting reconsideration of the decision, we can presume the information will be with us soon?
