Some sporting events are more challenging to photograph than others.
The Southland Boxing Championships held at Ascot Hotel this month were a perfect example of this.
From a photographer's point of view the sport is challenging to capture, especially if you are after the knock out shot.
Like all fast sports the photographer has to shoot in anticipation, as if you see the action in your viewfinder its to late to push the shutter button.
It's all about the perfect composition and the perfect timing, something that can take years to master but is worth the hard work when you get the action shot.
Not to mention dealing with the low lighting and slow shutter speeds.
