He's just very, very good
The weather is looking a little ''challenging'' for this weekend's Enduro 8-hour ride at Sandy Point.
If you haven't been able to get out for a training ride for a couple of days, the next best thing is to watch someone who is just very, very good at riding their bike.
In case, like me, you are wondering if what you are watching here is for real, hang on until the end and you'll see a couple of out takes where things didn't end so well.
And, while we are on cycling, check out this piece on the Invercargill Amateur Cycling club, one of the forerunners to Cycling Southland, which was written in 1963.
Amazing to think that only four years after Southland had won the Ranfurly Shield, cycling was pushing rugby as the province's number one sport, and that cycling was firmly ensconced as the main summer passtime.
Having 300 turn up to a mid-week club race at Kew Bowl is impressive enough, but the money spent on bringing the stars of the time to Invercargill obviously paid dividends - literally.
