OPINION: In the early hours of this morning, the storm pounded the house as I lay warm in bed with my bladder stretched for attention.

Turning on the light, I reflected on the foresight of city fathers decades ago who made the decision to put the city's electricity network underground.

Power to the people guaranteed come rain or shine.

Some residents in Wellington are not so fortunate.

Infrastructure is neither sexy nor vote catching, but the essential foundation for so much else.

Congratulations to those who play the long game.
