OPINION: Thirty-five per cent of those who replied to the CBD upgrade wanted a covered-in mall.

From what I see, none of the designers has looked at the options of covering in Esk St with an umbrella effect (like the one in Brisbane) that is not attached to any of the buildings.

Without such a street mall, the rest will do nothing to encourage anyone into the CBD on wet, cold or windy weekends.

Green spaces, open areas, play areas near the stream and changing traffic will not entice punters into a wet, cold and windy Esk St with little or no outside seating.
