Highlanders centurion Chris King will miss Friday's game against the Hurricanes after receiving a one week ban from the Sanzar judiciary tonight.

King was yellow carded for a 54th minute incident in Saturday's one point win over the Lions, after an illegal hit on Warren Whitely.

He was cited after the game with the citing commissioner deeming he had reached the red card threshold and fronted Sanzar duty judicial officer Peter Ingwersen.

Ingwersen said the Lions player had received no injury in the incident, and was able to continue after receiving brief treatment.

King's exemplary record over a long career was also taken into account, along with his guilty plea.King's suspension leaves the Highlanders light in the front row, with Craig Millar still recovering from injury.

The Highlanders are likely to bring in Otago prop Aki Seuili, who has trained with the team in recent weeks.
