No excuse for lazing on the couch in winter
It might be winter, but golf doesn't stop - there's plenty going on in and around Southland.
★★★ The Golf Southland annual meeting is on tomorrow. It is being held at Otautau Golf Club with a light lunch from noon and the meeting from 1pm. For all inquiries, please contact Golf Southland.
★★★ There are a couple of tournaments coming up on Winton Golf Club's calendar, the first of which is on tomorrow.
The club's popular par 3 tournament's tee-off is at 11.30am. The tournament is open to teams of three, is a stableford format with the best two scores counting. Entries can be made by contacting Pam Macleod at email@example.com.
The club is also holding a tournament on June 29. Sponsored by Clark Contracting, it is also a stableford format. Entries can be directed to A Ward at firstname.lastname@example.org.
★★★ The next round of the ILT Great Southern Challenge will tee off at Southland Golf Club (Oreti Sands) on June 29. Queens Park has a narrow one-shot lead after the first round of competition, which was played at Queens Park, with Greenacres just behind, Southland are third and Invercargill fourth.
About 140 players turned out for round one and a similar number is expected for the rest of the competition.
★★★ Golf Southland's MLT President's Pennants competition is open for entries.
Clubs are asked to submit teams of four to Golf Southland by June 27, with the competition set to tee off on July 19.
