Potential Stags players will have just one more outing this weekend to put their hand up for a place in the 2014 squad which is expected to be named on Monday.

Woodlands and Marist will meet in the Southland club final on Saturday, while other potential players will line up the next day in Dunedin with the Spartans team from Southland taking on Otago team the Sassenachs in a trial like game.

Otulea Katoa, who is a Tongan international and last year played for Auckland B, will be one of the many players after a big game.

The outside back has headed south for a crack and will get his final shot at pushing his way into the Stags squad playing for the Spartans.

Katoa has played a couple of games for Marist since his arrival. However, he was not here before the June 7 cut-off which would have allowed him to play in the club semifinal and final this Saturday.

Eastern-Northern Barbarians players Jack Jones and Ryan Evans, both from Wales, have also been included in the Spartans team.

Jones, 21, played in two under-20 world championships for Wales and could come into consideration as the fourth lock in the Stags setup this season.
