Bevin wins race to Te Anau

Ascot Park Hotel rider Patrick Bevin has won the 163km stage from Winton to Te Anau on the penultimate day of the Tour of Southland.
Bevin headed home a dozen other riders in the sprint up the main street of the small lakeside town.
Zookeepers Cycle Surgey rider Heath Blackgrove finished in the leading group to take the yellow jersey from Jack Bauer (Share the Road). Blackgrove now has the mission to defend the yellow jersey over the final two stages back into Invercargill tomorrow.
American rider Floyd Landis (cyclingnzshop.com-Biosport) was in the leading group but did not have enough left in his legs to feature in the sprint.
There were sunny conditions for most of the stage with some challenging head winds before the Blackmount hill climb, which was won by Southland Times rider Michael Vink.
