Wanaka freeskier Jossi Wells can do no wrong at the moment.

Just one week after winning a silver medal in the men's freeski superpipe at the 14th Winter X-Games, Wells has achieved another huge milestone, claiming freeskiing's most coveted trophy – the Dew Cup.

The 19-year-old produced a fifth-place finish at the final round of the Dew Cup at the Mt Snow Resort in Vermont yesterday, which was enough to take the overall title after first and second-place efforts in the first two events of the Dew tour.

Wells pipped American Simon Dumont by five points at the top of the standings after the three events, with Frenchman Xavier Bermont finishing a further 10 points back.

Wells was ecstatic to have backed up his Winter X-Games silver medal with the Dew Cup.

"It feels amazing to win The Dew Cup," he said.

"I've always looked up to (defending champion) Tanner Hall and just to be able to follow in his footsteps and win the Dew Cup the year after him is something I never imagined could happen."

In the final stop of the Dew Cup, Wells scored a best score of 84.00 points – which was 10 less than round winner Dumont.

There was double celebrations for the Wells family in Vermont, with Jossi's younger brother Byron achieving his best result in competition with a seventh place finish in the superpipe finals.

Jossi will look to continue his golden run of form at the European Winter X-Games in France at the beginning of next month.
