Invercargill hosts finals of kart champs

The Invercargill Kart Club will host the finals of the 2010 club championship on Sunday at the Macaulay Ford Raceway in Otatara.
Round one two weeks ago had some red-hot racing and a few upsets.
One of the biggest was Formula Ford star Damon Leitch and Wallacetown's Vaughn Marshall, both of whom upstaged South Island champion Jamie Conroy to sit first and second in the Senior Yamaha Light class.
Unfortunately, Leitch will miss the final, as he is competing in the final round of the Formula Ford series in Taupo.
In other classes, Hamish Keast returned from a long absence in the cadet class and showed he hasn't lost any pace, fending off Jack Martinac, of Dunedin, and Jacob Palfrey.
The junior restricted class proved to be a three-way battle but Dunedin's Dominic Mcdonald holds a slight lead over the James Hargest junior pairing of Jordan Michels and Braydon Shuttle-worth.
The Junior Yamaha class looks to be a Dunedin trifecta, with Chad Patrick leading from local Brendon Leitch, who will miss this coming meeting, meaning Oliver Shearer and Josh King should pick up the minor placings.
The Senior Yamaha Heavy class has also been dominated by Dunedin's Daniel Harvey, who took maximum points into round two. Newcomers Paul Mason and Kallan Harper sit second and third respectively.
In the masters class, Graham Reid is leading from sisters Maryanne Renton and Desiree McAnnely, while Daryl Shuttleworth holds maximum points in the Rotax 125 class.
Shannan Baker was untouchable in the open class, with Monaghan second and Queenstown's Paul Ritchie third.
This weekend's racing starts at 11am and admission is free.
