Invercargill's Queens Park cricket ground will host its first-ever live televised game in December when the Otago Volts visit the city for the HRV Cup twenty20 competition.
New Zealand Cricket released the domestic schedule for the 2010-11 season on Tuesday, which confirmed Invercargill had been allocated two twenty20 games in December and a one-day game in January.
The schedule also confirmed Sky TV would screen 19 of the 31 HRV Cup games live this summer, which included the December 10 and 12 fixtures at Queens Park being beamed out to the rest of New Zealand.
Otago will play Auckland in Invercargill on Friday, December 10, with the game starting at 5pm.
Two days later Otago will then meet Central Districts at Queens Park on Sunday, December 12, with that game starting at 2pm.
In January, the Otago Volts will return to Invercargill to play Northern Districts in a one-day game on the 19th, starting at 11am.
Meanwhile, the Volts have signed two overseas professionals in an attempt to boost their chances in the HRV Cup twenty20 tournament in December, which will feature all the Black Cap players.
Otago Cricket was anxious to re-sign former overseas import Dimitri Mascarenhas but he suffered a long-term injury that will rule him out of cricket until after Christmas.
The Volts did grab the signatures of Sussex middle-order batsman and spinner Chris Nash, as well as Darren Stevens, who is a powerful striker of the ball and a useful medium-pacer.
Stevens plays for Kent in England. The pair will be contracted with Otago from late November through to the start of January, making them available only for the twenty20 competition.
