Dunedin's Reon Bow claimed the men's open win in the second round of the Southern Series Downhill Mountainbiking at Bluff Hill on Saturday.

Bow registered the quickest time in the men's open class with 2min 31sec over the 1.3km course, ahead of Peter Miller and Cam Johnson, who were three seconds back.

Connor Harvey was impressive in the juniors category, beating Rolf Kammlein by three seconds, with a time of 2min 31sec.

Phoebe Coers, from Wanaka, was the women's victor in 3min 50sec, while Matt Weir took out the masters 30-40 class in 2min 38sec.

Forty-six riders from as far afield as Dunedin, Central Otago and Southland competed in five different classes. Riders carried out two timed runs, with the fastest run counting.

The next round of the Southern Series Downhill Mountainbiking will be held at Dunedin's Signal Hill on October 6.
