The SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Club's ladies finals were played on Saturday and, in an ironic turn of events, all finals finished with a score of 3 and 2. New ladies club captain Ngaire Anderson provided this report:
Angela Gerken won a hotly contested silver division, beating Robyn Pullar 3up with two holes to play.
Robyn was two up at lunch, but Angela fought back early in the game in the afternoon.
Angela won holes 3 and 4 to bring her even, then birdied number 9 to bring her 1up at the turn. Angela birdied number 12 and won hole 13 to give her 3up with five to play. Hole 14 was halved, as were 15 and 16, leaving Angela with the honours.
In the Bronze A division Heather Mitchell beat Pam Cracknell 3up with two to play. Heather was consistent throughout and was 1up after lunch, then pulled away to be 4up at the eighth. Pam fought on and pulled back the deficit and Heather was 2up at the 14th. Heather won the 15th to be 3up and the 16th was halved with Heather taking out the match.
Vivienne Ireland beat Shirley Bennett 3up with two to play in the Bronze C division.
The Bronze B division and silver plate are still to be played.
