Southland's Vaughan McCall, along with Blair Riordan, Josh Munn and Tyler Hodge have been named in a four-man New Zealand golf team for the inaugural Ten Nations Cup in South Africa in February.

New Zealand moves into a new era with longtime national amateur representatives Ben Campbell and Mathew Perry having moved into the professional ranks in recent months, with Kiwi No 1 McCall the only player now with extensive top-level team experience for New Zealand.

Riordan, from Takaka, Munn, the Manawatu player who has already won twice on the Charles Tour, and Levin talent Hodge have been given first crack in 2013 alongside the in-form Southlander McCall.

New Zealand Golf's high performance manager Gregg Thorpe said it was now a time for a new group of leading amateur players to emerge.

"The four selected players have all performed well both domestically and internationally over the last 12 months and will no doubt relish the opportunity to put the Silver Fern on and proudly represent New Zealand," Thorpe said.

The tournament, which will be staged at the Kingswood Golf Estate in George from February 6-9, is an amalgamation of the Four Nations Cup and the Southern Cross Trophy and will be played over four rounds of strokeplay between 10 countries.

The teams confirmed at this stage include Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, England, Scotland and Ireland with three more teams to be added.

Following the event the New Zealand team will compete in the South African Strokeplay Championship from February 12-15 at the Ernie Els-designed Oubaai Golf Club in George.
