Connor Ballantyne and Finn Holden are the early pacesetters in the newly formatted Ensign Cup and Southland satellite junior individual tournament series.
Ballantyne, from Central Southland, and Holden, from Invercargill, lead with 22 points after the completion of the Northern Southland and Invercargill satellite tournaments for players in the 8 to 18 years age-groups.
The Central Southland satellite tournament (Jan 27), Eastern Southland (Feb 24) and Western Southland (March 10) are still to be played.
Players are awarded two points for entering a satellite tournament, two points for winning a match and one point for losing. The sub-association with the most player points will win the Ensign Cup and the individual with the most points will win a tennis racquet.
