The Southland Maori rugby team will take on Aoraki at Les George Oval tomorrow, in a warmup game ahead of the Te Wai Pounamu tournament in Timaru later this month.
The 1pm game at Sandy Point will give Aoraki, who traditionally host the South Island tournament, a chance to play an away game.
Southland's preparation has been a little disjointed with the Southland sevens' campaign, Marist's sevens' buildup, and the start of the club preseason all taking their toll.
Despite that, the Jason Harrison-coached side will include Stags' representatives such as Tuki Raimona, Campbell Smith and Sonny Rangitoheriri.
Keanu Kahukura was to have been involved but has been named in a New Zealand Marist sevens team to play in a tournament in Samoa.
Southland will take part in the Te Wai Pounamu tournament in Timaru on February 23, with South Island teams to be selected in the men's, women's and Colts' grades.
