The curtain will come down on the Oreti Park Speedway's 2012-13 season on Saturday night when it hosts the South Island Sidecar Championships.
The championships has pulled in riders from as far as Nelson and Christchurch for the meet near Invercargill.
All up, 22 combinations have put their names forward to contest the 2013 title.
A new champion will be found, with last year's winners, North Islanders Derek Ramsey and Tony Hislop, choosing not to defend their title.
The favourites to win this year'sevent are Lionel Green and Shayne Breach, from Christchurch, who have been in superb form of late, cleaning up most events they have competed in.
As far as home favourites go, the best hope would be the combination of NZ3 champions Kevin McDonald and Karl Hosie.
Saturday night's action will start at 4pm, with Speedway president Warren Shuttleworth again hopeful of a big turnout to watch the sidecar racing.
Shuttleworth said it had been a good season and the South Island Sidecar Championships would top it off nicely.
"It's been a very successful season, very successful," he said.
"You know we've got a NZ3 sidecar down here (McDonald/Hosie), a New Zealand under-21 solo champ (Jack MacRae), so it's been good."
