Allan Ballantyne, driving Rage, continued his good form during the New Zealand Powerboat Association nationals at Cromwell last weekend.

Ballantyne was a convincing winner in the Modified Hydroplane class, despite some mechanical issues, while Mark Dawson, in Velocity, won the Mod VP class.

Andrew Railton, driving Mad Dog, was third in the clubmans class and should have been second in the formula 3, with an inquiry into the final results still pending.

His wife Melissa, in Pure Venom, was 10th in the clubmans class.

Alister Gorrie, in Thunderstruck, was third in the Grand National.

Shane Harvey and Renegade did not feature in the final results after a mechanical failure in the first Grand National heat, his first race in the boat, when the rudder came away from the boat and he was forced to run around at the end of the lake.

The Southland Powerboat Club has been credited with fifth place in the Canadian Trophy competition, though final results could change.
