Bad weather and bad injury

The start of the snowboarding programme at the Winter Games was upset by bad weather and a serious ankle injury to superstar Shaun White yesterday.

The two-time Olympic gold medallist crashed out in training at Cardrona and later posted a photo on Instagram of his heavily bandaged right ankle.

He will take no further part in the slopestyle which continues today with the two women's heats and two men's heats that were cancelled because of bad weather, with the qualifiers advancing directly to the finals.
