Invercargill's Gabby Vermunt piloted Wellington's Emma Foy to silver yesterday in the Women's Road Race at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup cycling in Matane, Canada
The pair, riding in tandem, broke away midway through the 83km race before the Spanish pairing clawed their way back and then took the win by just three seconds.
Vermunt and Foy finished nearly two minutes of third place.
At the weekend, the Southland pairing of Phillipa Gray and Laura Fairweather took silver in the women's time trial over 25km. In the same event, Foy and Vermunt missed the podium by just 7sec, finishing fourth.
Both combinations are in great form heading into the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Champs in Baie-Comeau, Canada, which will run from Friday to Monday (NZ time).
Both will line up in the time trial on Saturday and the road race on Monday morning.
