Sergent, Roulston sign with new cycling team

New Zealand riders Jesse Sergent and Hayden Roulston have signed with new Pro Tour team Trek for next season.

Trek Bicycle Co. have bought the license owned by Sergent and Roulston's previous team, Radioshack-Leopard from January, 2014, with Swiss classics specialist and principle rider Fabian Cancellara signing with the new team for the next three years.

Trek have also confirmed the signings of Stijn Devolder, veteran Yaroslav Popovych, Markel Irizar and Gregory Rast.

Previous confirmed signings included Andy and Frank Schleck, and Jens Voigt.

"This group of riders has been essential to Fabian's success in 2012 and especially 2013," team director Dirk Demol said in a press release.

"Their dedication to him was beyond belief. Fabian's name is the one on the roll of honor of the great classic races that we all love, but these support riders were all ready to sacrifice themselves to the team's interest.

"They are warriors, true unsung heroes. I am delighted and proud that we are able to keep this group together. From here on we keep on working hard, toward many more successes."

The length of Sergent and Roulston's contracts were not detailed in the press release.
